Luis Martínez Barrios got his Chemical degree at “Universitat de Barcelona” in 1986 and, since 2017, is the President of the

Trained as Lean Practitioner (2005) and Certified Black Belt Six Sigma (2006), his Professional career includes 27 years expertise on automotive & industrial coatings systems as Technical manager in different multinational Companies: Herberts, DuPont, Akzo Nobel... Since 2016 he works in his own company:
focused on developing paint and coating systems for the Automotive Industry.
Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at “Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya” (UPC). He is currently a member of the Directory Board of the SEQUI. He is also a member of the AIChE and member of the Working Party on Education of the EFCE. His research interests include Process Systems Engineering (modelling and optimization) and Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOP).
Rosa Nomen is Professor of Chemical Engineering at “Universitat Ramon Llull”. She holds the UNESCO Chair for Education, Technology and Development at “Instituto Químico de Sarrià”, and chairs the Scientific Committee of the International Council of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry (ICTAC). She is also a member of the Executive Board of the European Technology Platform on Industrial Safety (ETPIS).
Ignasi Palou-Rivera is currently the Technology Platform Director of the RAPID Manufacturing Institute (
), a collaboration between the US Department of Energy Advanced Manufacturing Office and AIChE on Modular Chemical Process Intensification (MCPI). Ignasi holds an Engineering Degree from the “Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya” and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has held several professional positions in the field of process modeling and optimization, techno-economic analysis, and life-cycle and sustainability analysis.
Santiago Esplugas is Full Professor of Chemical Engineering at “Universitat de Barcelona”. He has been visiting professor at various Universities in Argentina, the UK, and the US. He does research in Advanced Oxidation Technologies for water reuse and Photochemical Reaction Engineering with special focus in pollution abatement. He is associate editor of J. Hazard. Mater., J. Environ. Chem. Eng., and member of the board of SEQUI and IOA.
Carmen González Azón is Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at “Universitat de Barcelona”. She does research mainly on the Physical-Chemistry of Colloidal Systems. She is a member of the Institute of Nutrition and Food Security of the “Universitat de Barcelona”. Currently she is Coordinator of the PhD Program in Engineering and Applied Sciences, and Head of International Relations of the Faculty of Chemistry.
Ignasi Rodriguez-Roda Layret (Barcelona, 1969). He is Professor of Chemical Engineering at “Universitat de Girona”, head of the Technology and Evaluation area of the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA) and member of the research group LEGUiA-UdG. In addition, he coordinates a Master in Water Resources’ Science and Technology.
Xavier Gabarrell is currently Director of ICTA-UAB (
). He is Professor in the Department of Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering of “Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona” (www.uab.cat) and researcher at ICTA. He leads the research group on Industrial Ecology called Sostenipra (www.sostenipra.cat).His fields of expertise are Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), Material Flow Analysis (MFA), industrial ecology and waste management.
Antonio Espuña holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering (1987), and since 2009 is Professor of Chemical Engineering at “Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya” (UPC). His

Ricard Garcia-Valls is Professor of Chemical Engineering at “Universitat Rovira i Virgili” (URV). He has been Director of the Chemical Engineering School. He is a member of the EURECAT network and leads the Innovation Center METEOR (TECNIO network). He does research into membranes for energy generation (fuel cells or artificial photosynthesis), water treatment (osmosis), and smart microencapsulation.

Eric Schaer is Professor of Chemical Engineering at “Université de Lorraine”. His research interests focus on heterogeneous reaction engineering and training in process engineering. He is also chair of the Working Party on Education of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering.
Montserrat Pérez-Moya is Associated Professor of Chemical Engineering at “Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya” (UPC). She is currently a member of the Directory Board of the Department of Chemical Engineering. She has 20 years of experience in the field of wastewater treatment and reuse by using advanced oxidation processes, more specifically the Fenton and photo-Fenton process. Her research interests also include Innovation in Education and Lifelong Learning.
