The main idea driving this initiative is approaching current Ph.D. students to innovation and the opportunities to drive research into the market. Ph.D. students too often see their doctoral research as just publishing scientific papers, produce a doctoral dissertation, and start an academic career, if possible. Innovation and marketing research are mostly perceived as something only possible later, in the framework of consolidated research groups. First, MeCCE is committed to provide guidelines for Ph.D. students on innovation, on how to transform their research into a marketable solution, and the opportunities to actually introduce this solution into the market. Next, MeCCE will offer the opportunity to selected participants to test their innovation competence in the MeCCE Business Contest.
A dedicated panel will assess the submitted proposals in regard of their innovation and business potential, and selected candidates will be invited to contend for the MeCCE-14 innovation award (1000€), sponsored by Eurecat, at a face-to-face session during the industrial exhibition EXPOQUIMIA (14-17 Sep. 2021).
Selected candidates defending their proposal at the face-to-face B&I forum will get a certificate, and the winner will receive an innovation award (1000€). A final round table will be programmed with experienced innovators, panel members and the young candidates.
All MeCCE delegates will be able to attend the contest and the debate in September within the framework of EXPOQUIMIA.
September 7th - Last day for presenting candidatures to the Business Award.
September 9th - Accepted candidates to the Business Award are announced.
The selection of the most innovative (business-oriented) solution will be based on degree to which it:
is creative and unexpected (“Why no one ever think of this it before?”)
challenges conventional ways of doing things (business as usual)
brings a qualitative differentiation rather than just an efficiency increase
allows creating and/or addressing new markets or category segments
fulfils ignored or unnoticed social needs and demands
moves towards meeting sustainable development goals (H2030)
Each presentation will take 10 minutes.
